JK2 Construction completes restaurant project at

Universal Orlando Resort

Guests can now enjoy TODAY Café

ORLANDO, Fla.  The next time you visit Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll be able to taste some new flavors—thanks in part to JK2 Construction.

The local contractor recently completed work on Universal’s newest themed restaurant based on the set of NBC’s The Today Show.

The TODAY Café in Universal Studios is inspired by NBC’s long-running morning show, the TODAY Café transports guests to the TV set, complete with stage lighting and TODAY segments running across big screens. Seasonal dishes and freshly prepared eats are available, as well as your morning cup of joe.  Located close to the main entry of Universal Studios, the café can be guests first and last stop during their visit.

JK2 Construction served as the general contractor for the project, developing a detailed schedule and selecting the appropriate subcontractors to keep the project on budget and on schedule with its six-month build window. The company repurposed an existing restaurant, removing all of the existing interior finishes, the original kitchen equipment, and new floor to ceiling storefront.  The electrical and mechanical distribution systems were all removed and replaced with current and more efficient systems.  The TODAY theme was modeled directly from the set in New York.  Modern lighting, video monitors, a custom entry millwork feature, bright colors, and comfort seating provide a refreshing dining opportunity.

The project is the most recent in a long history working with Universal Orlando for JK2.

“We’re happy to serve as a strong partner for Universal Orlando,” said Paul Holmes, president and founder of JK2. “Orlando is known for its world-class attractions, and this project will definitely be on the must-visit list. We are proud to be part of building that reputation.”
